The Boer Goats are known as the best meat producing goat breed of the world. This breed originated in South Africa. The Afrikaans name "Boer" means farmer. Most Boer goats have brown heads with a white spot in front and white bodies. A Boer goat becomes large very fast with adult male goats weighting 120 to 150 kg and females 100 to 120 kg. The female goats get matured in only 6 months and produces around 2 kids a year but there are reports of birth of even 5 kids. Most of their milk is absorbed by the kids. So these goats are mainly used for producing meat. They are also used often as show goats because of their size and weight. Boer goats are capable of adapting in any climate.
