The Kiko Goat
The Kiko Goats are one of the best meat producing goat breeds of the world. This breed was developed in New Zealand in the 1980s by crossing the feral breed bucks with various dairy breed does. The word "Kiko" which is used by the native people of New Zealand means meat. Most of the Kikos are colored white but also found in brown and black. The goats of this breed have the ability to get large without any extra supplementary food. They grow rapidly and gains maturity within 6 months. An adult Kiko buck can weight up to 150 kg like the Boer bucks but a doe weights just up to 80 kg. A Kiko doe gives up to 2 kids a year and produces milk for the demand of its children. Kiko goats thrive under any condition.
