The Saanen Goat

The Saanen Goats produce more milk than any other goat breed of the world. These are milk machines. They originated from Switzerland and found all over Europe and America. Most Saanen goats are colored white. They are very popular because of their high milk production rate and less maintenance troubles. Saanens are the biggest of the milk producing goat breeds. A Saanen buck weights 75-90 kg and doe 65-75 kg. A doe can produce up to 10 liters of milk a day. The milk contains fair amount of butterfat. The female goat can produce 1-3 babies a year. Saanens adapt well in medium temperate area but can suffer in hot climate.
